Cops Give New Details On Greenwich Crash That Caused Power Outage
The crash occurred on Thursday, Sept. 20, on Brookside Drive.

GREENWICH, CT — Last week's crash in Greenwich, which caused a brief power outage for a few dozen Eversource customers, was the result of an alleged thief fleeing from police, according to authorities.
While on patrol on West Putnam Avenue at about 3 a.m. on Sept. 20, an officer spotted suspicious activity at New Country Audi and discovered that someone was trying to steal rims from at lease one of the vehicles.
The officer tried to stop the alleged thief, but they hopped into an Audi (which was not from Greenwich, police said) and sped off, only to crash nearby on Brookside Drive. Whether that vehicle had been stolen and driven to Greenwich has not been disclosed.
