Officers noticed that someone had attempted to manipulate the air conditioning unit at the rear window of an apartment, according to an arrest report. Insulation was removed from the unit along with a cardboard cut-out that was taped underneath. Police said a side panel was pushed in, creating a small 8 by 6 inch opening into the apartment.
Lt. Martin O'Reilly of the Greenwich Police Department said a resident inside the apartment confronted the person outside, later identified as Miller, who was attempting to break-in on the fire escape balcony, but Miller ran away.
