GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Country Club has temporarily closed "as a precautionary measure" after a member tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to a New York Times reporter. In a tweet Sunday, Times reporter Neil Vigdor posted a screenshot of an email to members, in which club officials said a member who was asymptomatic and visited the club on Sunday, March 8, had tested positive for the virus, also referred to as the COVID-19 virus.
Club officials also said the member "may have been in contact with other members and staff," and advised members who visited the club's Grillroom or squash facilities on March 8 to check the Center for Disease Control's guidelines and contact their doctor if needed.
