CT Supreme Court Decides On Michael Skakel Prison Request: Report

State prosecutors sought to have the Kennedy cousin returned to prison.

GREENWICH, CT — A request by state prosecutors to return Michael Skakel to prison has been denied by the Connecticut Supreme Court, a decision that allows the Kennedy cousin to remain free on bail, reports the Greenwich Time.

Skakel was convicted in 2002 for the murder of Greenwich resident Martha Moxley, but was released on bail after being granted a new trial in 2013. The conviction was upheld, but he has remained free ever since through a series of legal maneuvers and the granting of a stay by the court.

A nephew of the late Robert F. Kennedy and his widow, Ethel Kennedy, Skakel has been living in northern Westchester County, according to the publication.
