Deadly Car Crash In Old Greenwich Under Investigation: Police

Police said one person was killed in a car accident Saturday night in the area of 1700 E. Putnam Ave. in Old Greenwich.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department is investigating a deadly car crash that occurred in the area of 1700 E. Putnam Ave. on Saturday night.

Around 11:30 p.m., police, fire and emergency medical services personnel responded to the scene on a report of a serious car accident.

"The collision was serious in nature and the GPD Traffic Reconstruction Unit responded to lead the investigation," the GPD said in a Facebook post on Sunday. "The operator of the vehicle died as a result of injuries sustained from the collision. The collision is actively being investigated and a formal press release will be completed at a later time."

According to a comment on the Facebook post, a resident who lives in the condos across from the Hyatt Regency hotel said they heard loud screeching and the impact of the collision around 11:35 p.m. They noted that first responders arrived on the scene quickly.
