Decision On Greenwich Suitcase Murder Case Delayed: Report
The body of Valerie Reyes, 24, was found in a suitcase on the side of Glenville Road in Greenwich in early February.
GREENWICH, CT — Over 10 months after the body of Valerie Reyes, 24, of New Rochelle, was found in a suitcase in Greenwich, a judge has agreed to a one-month extension regarding a resolution in the case.
John Craven of News 12 said on Twitter the judge agreed to another one-month extension Wednesday, however lawyers "must give a timeframe for a resolution" in January.
Craven included court documents in his tweet, which indicate a resolution will not come until at least after Jan. 15.

"The parties submit that there is good cause for an additional exclusion of time because of the unique nature of this case and because the parties are exploring a possible disposition of the case prior to the trial," the court document reads. "Given the serious nature of the charges...the Government and the defense are collecting information and analyzing evidence to determine the next steps for the case."
Reyes' deceased body was found bound and gagged in a suitcase on the side of Glenville Road on Feb. 5. Javier Enrique Da Silva Rojas (known as Javier Da Silva) is accusing of killing Reyes and, earlier this year, was charged federally with one count of kidnapping resulting in death, which carries a potential sentence of death or life in prison.
