Driver Of Car Facing Wrong Way In Road Arrested: Greenwich PD

Police said the driver appeared "disheveled, confused and was unaware of what town she was actually in."

GREENWICH, CT — Police said a New York woman whose car was facing the wrong way on Delavan Avenue was arrested Friday. According to an arrest report, officers responded to the area around 8 p.m. after receiving a report about the vehicle in the roadway.

Officers were able to make contact with the driver, who was identified as Doris Peet, 77, of Port Chester, N.Y., police said.

Police said the accused appeared "very disheveled, confused and was unaware of what town she was actually in." She also admitted to officers that she had hit a parked car prior to their arrival.

Further investigation revealed she did not provide proper information to the owner of the parked vehicle before leaving the scene, police said. She was asked to submit to a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which she did not perform to standard, police said.

The accused was arrested and charged with evading responsibility, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive upon right, police said.
