After a roller coaster ride of a season, Dylan Callahan pitched the Greenwich baseball team back to the FCIAC playoffs with as clutch a performance as one could want.

Greenwich (11-9, 11-7) overcame an 0-4 start to return to the FCIAC playoffs after reaching the championship game last season for the first time since 2005.

It came down to a wild final weekend. On Friday, the Cardinals rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Staples 5-4 before Callahan worked his magic on Saturday. He struck out eight.
Wilton's Paul Merolla also went the distance Saturday, but was the hard-luck loser, allowing an unearned run.

Greenwich scored the game only run in the third as Callahan led of with a single stole second, moved to third on a groundout and scored on an error.
The FCIAC playoff matchups won't be determined until Sunday at the earliest as New Canaan's game against McMahon, scheduled for Saturday, has been pushed back until Monday. The Rams already have a contest at Trumbull on Sunday.
The postponement also means the start of the FCIAC playoffs have been delayed one day with the quarterfinals now starting on Tuesday. The semifinals and finals will be played Thursday and Saturday at Harbor Yard.
