ebay Saturday: Greenwich High School Before It Became Town Hall
In the market for all things Greenwich? We'll help make your hunt a little bit easier.
Whether you're an armchair shopper or a power shopper traveling the long, winding roads of Fairfield County, here's some help. Each week, we'll search the term "Greenwich, CT" on the popular auction site eBay and see what pops up, and post it for Patch readers to see (and perhaps bid on).
Maybe you have a Greenwich-related item — a postcard, a milk bottle from the old Round Hill Farms, a menu from the former Manero's steakhouse, or a matchbook from the old Pickwick Arms (who remembers where that was located?). Or maybe you're looking for one of these iconic Greenwich collectibles. If you do and want to sell it, or you have a bunch of stuff to sell, you can click on your submit your photo or videos button above.
Today's item is described as linen style card of Greenwich High School. If it looks familiar, it should. It's now Greenwich Town Hall. If you look closely, you'll notice there are a few differences in this 70-ish -year-old to what the site is now. The hardwood tree in the left corner is long gone—the town's official Christmas stands there now. The stone pillars with lanterns leading to the front entrance are no longer there; ditto for the massive hardwood tree. (We've included a more recent photo of the town hall entrance for comparison.)
