GAIL & KEN RESEN
Constructions, Paintings, & Drawings
April 4 – May 18, 2013
Opening Reception: Thursday, April 4, from 6-8pm
This two person show by artist couple Gail and Ken Resen illustrates two very dramatically different, yet related directions in contemporary abstraction. Gail creates visually kinetic works built of cut and manipulated paper or painted canvas. They vary in scale and constitute wall mounted reliefs intended to be studies of light and pattern or color interaction across a surface. Her work redefined the space between drawing and painting.

Ken’s passion is also color interaction as it defines space, form and motion to evoke emotional response. Landscape space essentially anchors his thinking, while ambivalent space sets it free. Natural forms often appear in Ken’s work, frequently abstracted inti symbolic imagery. Blurring or visually contradicting the line between figure and abstraction remains the core of his art.
