CT Weather: Flash Flood Watch Thursday; 2 To 4 Inches Of Rain
The National Weather Service says we could see the heaviest rain fall in a brief period. Up to 4 inches of rain is possible.

Another week in Connecticut so that must mean another chance for flooding concerns. And that is exactly what we have for today in Connecticut. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the entire state. The timeline is for this afternoon and through the evening hours where another two to possibly four inches of rain could fall.
The weather service says "tropical moisture" from Tropical Storm Michael is the culprit for the anticipated downpours later today. Tropical Storm Michael is currently near South Carolina and is nowhere near Connecticut.
The unsettled weather may linger into Friday and there may even be more rain showers early Saturday before sunshine dominates on Sunday. If you have outdoor weekend plans then Sunday is your best bet.

"Tropical moisture surging northward from eastern North Carolina and Virginia will move up into the area this afternoon and tonight. Showers and a few thunderstorms will develop by this afternoon and continue into tonight, and the rain may be heavy at times.
Areal average rainfall amounts of 1 1/2 to 2 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts of 2 to 4 inches possible. Any heavy rainfall that occurs within a 1 to 3 hour time frame may result in flash flooding. The heaviest rainfall is expected in and around New York City, and also across portions of Long Island and southern Connecticut."

From 11 AM EDT this morning through late tonight
"An approaching cold front moves through Southern New England late today and tonight. The front will draw upon tropical moisture from Tropical Storm Michael, creating local downpours.
Moderate to heavy rainfall anticipated averaging around 1 to 2 inches for the region, however locally heavier amounts are expected especially with any thunderstorm activity. Additional concern of torrential rainfall along high terrain. Potentially occurring within a 1 to 3 hour window, there is the possibility that flash flooding will occur."
