Going Green Means Living Color In Greenwich

Strolling Greenwich Avenue there's a plethora of colorful planters in front of dozens of shops.

There is a pair outdoor- and plant-loving women who enjoy creating blooming mosaics that reflect the character and needs of their clients. Anne Kelly and Danielle MacVane don't plop a couple of geraniums into clay pots and call it a day.

Kelly is the beautification manager and MacVane is an assistant designer for Geigers Landscape, a landscape architecture and horticulture firm that's been based in Westport for 60 years.

The planter program is an initiative Geigers started about a decade ago. The company furnishes seasonal plants throughout the year. The only responsibility of the shopkeeper is watering the planters and displaying the company's brochures.

According to Kelly and MacVane, they work year round creating the botanical designs at more than 375 locations throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties.
