Grassroots 'March On Greenwich' Helps Register Dozens Of RTM Candidates: Report

An unprecedented number of new candidates will run for the Greenwich RTM this fall.

GREENWICH, CT — An unprecedented 79 new candidates are running for the Greenwich RTM this fall, many of whom are getting their start because of the grassroots organization March On Greenwich, reports the Greenwich Free Press.

The Greenwich Representative Town Meeting consists of 230 members from 12 districts in town, and the group meets eight times a year.

Because of the efforts of March On Greenwich, which got its start in part to protest against President Donald Trump and make their disgust known over the arrest of RTM member Chris von Keyserling, virtually all of the 12 districts now have more candidates than elected slots. This means there will be contested races for almost all RTM districts.

And in von Keyserling's District 8, the controversial RTMer will be among 37 candidates for 26 spots, which marks 11 more candidates than there are available positions.
