Green Fingers Garden Club Appoints New Board Members

The Greenwich club also presented their annual awards to members.


The Green Fingers Garden Club has appointed new board members and announced their annual awards.

The appointments and awards were made at the annual meeting of the club that is a member of the Garden Clubs of America (GCA) and The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut.

Board members include Dee Mayberry, Jane Marsh, Green Fingers President, Diana Samponaro, Sarah Morena, Susie Dubin, Steph Haig, Kate McNamara, Patty Dunn, Beth Nixon, Ginger Jenks, Betsy Mulcare, Peggy McDermott, Gaby Hall, Evelyn Lorentzen-Bell, Darcy Hadjipateras, Karen Royce, Darrell Lorentzen, Barbara Arenz, Deb Ference-Gray, Kimberly Johnson, Barb Kaytes and Kirby Williams.

Receiving Green Fingers Awards were Jane Marsh, Betsy Phelps, Patty Brooks Walker, Debbie Sterling, Vicki Kyriakos, Janice Gardner, Kirby Williams, Gaby Hall, Darcy Hadjipateras, Teresa O’Neil, Jackie Ostrander, Cynthia Canaday, Evelyn Lorentzen-Bell, Beth Nixon, Sarah Morena, Jennifer Brown, Karen DeWahl, Annie Driscoll, Laura Geffs, Frankie Hollister, Barb Kaytes and Gloria O’Connell.

Every three years Green Fingers stages a GCA Major Flower Show, “Preview of Spring” and plans are already being made for the show that is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015. The theme of the show that is open to the public with free admission, is “Hanami,” Celebrating the Transient Beauty of Flowers.

The show will feature floral designs, horticultural specimens, photography, botanical paintings and jewelry, and conservation and educational displays. Funds raised from the show will benefit civic improvement projects in Greenwich.

Earlier this year Green Fingers pledged to partner with Greenwich Point Conservancy (GPC) on the “Old Barn” restoration project at Greenwich Point, Old Greenwich. Other recent projects have included teaming up Greenwich Community Gardens and Family Centers, Inc. to create a Butterfly Teaching Garden at Armstrong Court, donating the landscaping at the Island Beach Ferry Landing, and helping to landscape the Senior Center at River House, Wilbur Peck and Pathways.
