GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Academy, a private school for girls with two campuses in town, has officially purchased a 54-acre parcel of land from descendents of the Rockefeller family for $18.35 million.
Originally listed for $21.5 million, the land had been in the Rockefeller family for over 100 years, and it was the family's last large land holding in Greenwich.
The property is in central Greenwich and is bordered by Glenville, Riversville, and Pecksland Roads. It's just seven minutes from GA's main campus on North Maple Avenue.

"For close to 200 years, GA has fostered in girls and young women a joy for learning and the pursuit of excellence in any endeavor, be it academic, athletic, or artistic. I could not be more enthusiastic about what the addition of this property can bring to our students and community!" GA's new Head of School Margaret Hazlett told Patch in an email via her assistant.
GA said the acquisition "positions the school to create more enriching educational opportunities and programs and will open up a wide range of opportunities for its students and families —athletic facilities, leadership development programs, sustainability initiatives, and faculty housing, to name a few."
