
GREENWICH, CT — The Board of Education selected Jill M. Gildea as the next Superintendent of Schools effective July 1.
“After conducting an extensive national search, we are confident in our appointment of Dr. Gildea as a recognized leader in improving student performance for all students through personalized learning and evidence-based management," said BOE Chair Peter Sherr.
Her salary will be $250,000 per year for three years. She will also receive a $15,000 per year annuity, a $3,500 per month housing allowance if she lives in Greenwich and up to $20,000 reimbursement for moving expenses.

Gildea is currently the superintendent for Fremont School District 79 in Mundelein, Illinois. She was selected from a pool of national candidates.
"Confirmed in reference checks conducted by each Board member, Dr. Gildea exhibited a superior knowledge base of personalized learning and drivers of student achievement. This knowledge base, combined with her experience, communication skills and extensive professional credentials set her apart from other qualified candidates," said Board Superintendent Search Committee Chair Laura Erickson.

Interim Superintendent Sal Corda said he will do everything he can to ensure a smooth transition.
Gildea and her husband Greg Gildea have four children; three adults and one that will attend Greenwich High School. They also have two dogs.
Gildea will start to get acquainted with the district prior to her July 1 official start date.
"I'm honored to join the Greenwich Public Schools and to work collectively on the important visionary and strategic work of an exemplary system," Gildea said. "From my perspective in visiting other districts across the country through my work with a variety of national organizations."
