Greenwich Basketball Standout Selected for National Championship

The athlete is one of 24 selected from around the country.

Greenwich basketball standout Donovan Mitchell, a senior at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH, has been selected as one of 24 outstanding senior athletes to compete in the 2015 American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships.

Intersport, a sports and entertainment marketing agency, announced the selections Tuesday.

Mitchell is a six-foot-three shooting guard for the Brewster Bobcats that won the 2015 National Prep Championship and the 2015 NEPSAC Class AAA Championship. Mitchell has signed to attend the University of Louisville where he’ll play for Coach Rick Pitino.

“This is a talented group of student-athletes,” said Telisa Yancy, vice president of Marketing at American Family Insurance. “It is their hard work, dedication and persistence that have gotten them to this point in their careers. We are excited to provide them this opportunity to celebrate those characteristics.”

The fifth annual championship will take place April 1 at Carmel High School in Indianapolis and is scheduled to be broadcast on CBS at 3:30 p.m. ET on April 5.
