Greenwich Connection to New Playboy Mansion Owner
The new owner of the iconic Playboy Mansion has a connection to Greenwich.

GREENWICH, CT — The legendary Playboy Mansion has a new owner with strong connections to Greenwich.
Daren Metropoulos, 33, bought the property for $100 million. Hugh Hefner, 90, will continue to live on the property for the rest of his life as part of the deal.
Metropoulos is the son of billionaire C. Dean Metropoulos, the man credited with bringing Twinkies and other Hostess products back to store shelves, according to Forbes.
Daren Metropoulos is a principal at C. Dean Metropulos & Co., which is based on East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich. The company previously owned Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, Ghirardelli Chocolates, Chef Boyardee and Duncan Hines.

Metropoulos plans to connect his adjacent estate to the mansion, which will result in a 7.3-acre compound in Holmby Hills, according to his biography on the company website. It will restore the original vision of architect Arthur Kelly and first owner Arthur Letts Jr.

Daren served as co-CEO of Pabst Brewing Company from 2010 to 2014. He is credited with helping market the brand based on its nostalgic appeal. Metropoulos & Co. sold Pabst for more than $700 million in 2014.
He has an interest in preserving iconic assets, according to his biography.
