Greenwich Coronavirus Updates: A Change Regarding School Lunches

School lunches will be delivered by a different vehicle starting this week, according to Greenwich Public Schools. Here's why.

GREENWICH, CT — Lunches for Greenwich public school students will be delivered by a different vehicle this week. According to the district, lunches will be delivered by staff members in a Norwalk Transit SUV vehicle beginning Monday, April 6.

In a message to families Sunday, Superintendent Toni Jones said the change was made after the bus company in charge of deliveries recently notified district officials the company would be closing its bus depot Monday. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"We have worked through the weekend to find a good solution going forward," Jones said in the message. "We have partnered with our regional center of Cooperative Educational Services (C.E.S.) who are providing the drivers for [the district]. Families will still see all of our GPS friendly faces."

Additionally, Jones said Transportation Association of Greenwich (TAG) vehicles will drop off breakfast on all five days, rather than just Monday, Wednesday and Friday, during the April 6 school week.

"Same locations and at the same time," Jones said, "so this schedule remains the same."
