Greenwich Dog Owner Seeks Help Finding Hudson's Attacker

This adorable 15-pound Shih Tzu was attacked last weekend by another dog in Pomerance Park in Cos Cob and lost an eye.

GREENWICH, CT — Hudson, a Shih Tzu owned by Greenwich resident Shanna Jennings, was attacked and lost an eye in a dog attack Sunday morning when Jennings and her family were walking with their dogs at Pomerance Park in Cos Cob. And now the family is asking for the public's help to find the attacking dog and its owner.

The attack occurred in a secluded area at the back of the park near the pond. The Jenningses were approached by a "large red-colored German Shepard-Mix, roughly between 80-100 lbs.," wrote Jennings in an email to Patch.

"The dog scared my husband and I a bit because it was large, and not with anyone," wrote Jennings. "It seemed friendly though."

That seeming friendliness turned to terror when the large dog attacked Hudson, biting him several times including in the face, causing one of the dog's eyes to dislodge. The incident occurred over the span of about a minute during which time the large dog's owner was nowhere to be found.

They eventually met the dog's owner, who would not give them her name, and they rushed Hudson off to a veterinary hospital.

The German Shepherd's owner is described as a petite brunette-haired woman who is about 5 feet, 4 inches tall. Jennings said she took down their information, but she has not reached out, and now the family is hoping someone knows her or her dog.

"I've called all the dog walkers I know in the Greenwich/Riverside/Cos Cob area, as well as vets and groomers," wrote Jennings. We are looking for them to reach out and do the right thing. We are not looking to have the dog harmed. They should be held responsible for their dogs actions, and they need to know this dog needs to be leashed at all times."
