Greenwich Firefighters Respond To 2 Vehicle Accidents: FD

Firefighters said one of the accidents occurred on Interstate 95, while the other occurred on the Merritt Parkway.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich firefighters responded to two vehicle accidents, one of which occurred on Interstate 95, on Monday. In a post on the Greenwich Professional Firefighters Facebook page, firefighters noted they have still been responding to "everyday emergencies" despite the current health situation.

Firefighters also shared photos from the two accidents, one of which took place on Interstate 95 and involved a tractor trailer. The second photo, which was taken after an accident on the Merritt Parkway, showed a vehicle with a damaged front. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

In addition to these accidents, Greenwich firefighters also responded to a fire at Greenwich Hospital on Tuesday. Firefighters sent out an alert about the fire around 3 p.m. on the Greenwich Fire L1042 Twitter page, then sent out another alert about 15 minutes later saying the blaze had been extinguished.

Fire was generator area and involved some debris in a shaft way," the second tweet reads. "Fire is extinguished per command."

According to Magaly Olivero, the hospital's public relations coordinator, Greenwich Hospital experienced "a smoke incident" in the afternoon which prompted them to contact the fire department.

"A small amount of debris was smoldering on the roof, and the smoke was drawn into the building," Olivero said in an email to Patch. "At no time were patients impacted."
