Greenwich High to Hold Student Voter Registration Session

Students will be able to register to vote in the upcoming November election.

The Greenwich Registrars of Voters, in conjunction with the League of Women Voters, will be having a Voter Registration Session at Greenwich High School on Thursday, April 30.

Students will be able to register in the Student Center between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. A photo ID is recommended, but not required.

“Greenwich and the State of Connecticut need citizens who are active and informed. The act of registering to vote is a signal that you care about your community,” Republican Registrar Fred DeCaro III said in a statement.

Democratic Registrar of Voters Sharon Vecchiolla has been participating in high school voter registration drives for more than 20 years. “Students find it difficult to register while away at college, the military, or while working,” Vecchiola said. “Young people are more likely to vote if they register before they leave high school. We hope many students take advantage of this chance to be registered and ready for the next election.”

Also again this year, the use of electronic devices will be available to allow students with driver’s licenses to register to vote online.

The Registrars may register students who are under 18 as long as they will be 18 by the Nov. 3 election.
