Greenwich Hospital To Receive Federal Funds For COVID-19 Costs
Greenwich Hospital will get about $9 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help with costs associated with COVID-19.

GREENWICH, CT — On Tuesday, Congressman Jim Himes (D-4) announced that Bridgeport and Greenwich Hospital will be awarded grant funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Greenwich Hospital will receive $9.1 million, and Bridgeport Hospital will get $5.1 million.
The money will help to reimburse the costs accrued from the emergency response to COVID-19, including expenses for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), testing centers, medical equipment, and increased staff presence. The grant will also help to ensure that the hospital can continue to respond to the pandemic in the months to come.
"The COVID-19 pandemic severely strained our healthcare system,” said Himes, a Greenwich resident, in a news release. "Throughout this pandemic, Bridgeport Hospital and Greenwich Hospital played a crucial role in keeping our communities safe. Healthcare workers fought this pandemic on the frontlines by treating patients and saving lives. As our country experiences a spike in COVID hospitalizations because of the Delta variant, it is still more important than ever to support our healthcare providers. I look forward to continuing to bring federal funding to support Southwest Connecticut’s healthcare system."
