Fresh off its first win of the season, the Greenwich High School boys hockey team looks to even its record on Friday when the Cardinals take on new-look New Canaan at the Darien Ice Rink (5:30 p.m.).
After getting outscored by a combined 11-1 in season-opening losses to West Haven and Notre Dame of West Haven, Greenwich broke into the win column with Wednesday's 4-1 victory over FCIAC rival Westhill. Luke Finneran scored two goals for the Cardinals (1-2).
New Canaan is the defending two-time FCIAC champions, but the Cardinals might not recognize the Rams' team that takes the ice Friday.
New Canaan lost 18 members of last year's powerful club that went undefeated until losing to St. Joseph in the Divison I state semifinals either through graduation or transfers to private schools.
The Rams (0-2) have been outscored 9-1 in their first two games and are coming off Monday's 6-1 setback to Darien.
