Greenwich Native Released by Minnesota Vikings
John Sullivan was released by the team. He became a starter in 2009.

GREENWICH, CT—Native John Sullivan has been released from the Minnesota Vikings after becoming a starter in 2009.
Sullivan was an offensive line member for the team. He graduated from Greenwich High School in 2003, according to Greenwich Time.
“Our entire organization appreciates everything that John Sullivan has done for this franchise," said Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman. "Sullivan led our team, not only with how he played the game, but also with how he handled himself in our community. We wish John Sullivan and his family nothing but the best as they move forward.”

Sullivan appeared in all 16 games during his rookie season and became a starter in 2009. He snapped to quarterback Brett Favre.
He ranks fourth all-time among centers in franchise history with 93 regular season starts, according to a Vikings press release. He suffered a back injury during the 2015 preseason and was sidelined the entire regular season.

Sullivan was named the Vikings Community Man of the Year in 2013 and donated a playground to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. He frequently visited patients at the hospital.
