Greenwich Police Assist Coast Guard During Severe Storm: PD
Greenwich Police said the marine unit had a "very busy afternoon" as a result of the intense weather.
GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police marine unit responded to "multiple calls" of overturned sailboats and stuck kayaks and paddle boarders during Sunday's severe storm. Lieutenant John Slusarz said the unit had a "very busy afternoon" as a result of the intense weather.
According to Slusarz, the Coast Guard broadcasted a request for assistance in the afternoon due to the number of reported vessels in distress. The unit helped right a couple of overturned boats, Slusarz said.
"At least one rowboat got pulled off the dock," Slusarz said. "We had to rescue that because it's a hazard."
