Greenwich Police on the Lookout for Prohibited Water Use
Police are on the lookout for people violating a town ordinance that restricts water use.

GREENWICH, CT—Police are keeping their eyes out for people who are violating the watering ban ordinance set by the Board of Selectmen in the face of drought conditions.
"Our plan is to inform and educate our citizens, and we are confident that the residents of Greenwich once informed will cooperate," said Lt. Kraig Gray, police spokesman. "If we are unable to garner voluntary compliance through education and warning our officer's have been instructed to enforce the [town ordinance]."
Police do have the authority to impose a $91 fine per offense.

Some of the prohibited actions include, but aren't limited to:
- Outdoor water use including watering lawn, except watering of gardens by hand-held hose.
- No use of water to wash down driveways and sidewalks.
- No use of water to wash cars in driveways.
- No use of water to wash buildings or windows.
