Greenwich Police Seek Clues in Weekend Stabbing

The male victim received life-threatening injuries and is being treated at Greenwich Hospital.

Greenwich Police are seeking the public’s help in their investigation into the weekend stabbing at the Armstrong Court public housing complex on Hamilton Avenue which left a man with life-threatening injuries.

In a statement Monday morning, police said, “Over the weekend the Greenwich Police Department was notified of a male patient who had appeared at the Greenwich Hospital Emergency Room who had received life-threatening stab wounds. The injured subject underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.”

Police said that they did not receive any calls at the time of the stabbing — shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 — and that the 21-year-old victim didn’t contact either police or call for an ambulance. The victim was taken to hospital by his acquaintances, police said. Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said police have not found the weapon.

The victim is a Norwalk resident, who police said, ”Provided the investigating officers with limited information. The injured subject could not provide investigators with any actionable information as to why he had been targeted or by whom. The only information that could be corroborated was that he was in an altercation in Armstrong Court Saturday morning October 25, 2014 shortly before 2 a.m.”

In response to the stabbing, police have increased patrols in the 144-unit apartment complex in the Chickahominy neighborhood on the western end of town.

“We’ve increased our presence in the area with both plain clothes officers and patrols. We’re looking for information from any resident in the complex or nearby streets that may have seen something that night or know of anything else that’s been going on but they didn’t report it,” said police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. “We’re hoping if they saw something, they’ll say something either to one of the officers there or with our tips line.”
