Orthwein is co-owner of the restaurant with the Boies family. He appointed chef Thomas Burke to lead in the kitchen and take a new approach to traditional French-inspired cuisine.
Weekly menu items are designed to celebrate French cuisine with a seasonal flare and provide something for everyone. A special reserve wine collection is available in addition to the general wine list.
"Our goal is to be welcoming and maintain the restaurant for new generations," said Orthwein in a news release. "I've been dining at La Crém since the early '80s, and when the opportunity came to save the restaurant from permanently closing my partner and I jumped at the chance! We are really pleased with Chef Burke's interpretation of the menu and think that it will appeal to both our longtime regulars and new customers alike."
Along with menu changes, a garden is being built on the property, and plans to construct an outdoor deck for dining are in the works.
The restaurant is currently open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday but will switch to dinner Wednesday through Saturday to go along with Sunday brunch.
Jackets are no longer required for dinner but proper attire and a smart casual dress code are still recommended.
