On Wednesday April 24, 2013 the Greenwich Rotary Club welcomed François Kwaku-Dongo, executive chef of the Eleven14 Kitchen restaurant in Greenwich at the boutique hotel, The J House. François, spoke to the club and taught about culinary experiences, making chocolate and the way to help grow the middle class in emerging countries. Chef François started the presentation off about how he was born in Côte d’Ivoire, and grew up working on his grandmother’s cocoa farm. He came to the US in his twenties to work at the United Nations and began cleaning restaurants at night to make extra money. He quickly worked his way up the restaurant hierarchy. He once made pasta for Miles Davis in New York City and how people always gravitated towards his energy, passion for food and hard working spirit. Wolfgang Puck chose François to take responsibility for all prep work on Puck’s “Good Morning, America” appearances; Kwaku-Dongo then moved to Los Angeles to work as a line cook for Puck at Spago West Hollywood. He also spoke about another passion, The Omanhene Cocoa Bean Company. Chef François oversees the culinary operations of Omanhene with primary responsibility for new product development, restaurant development and formulating strategic partnerships within the hospitality and broadcasting/multi-media industries. He is truly a master chef, you should stop by the J House in Greenwich to try his creations, foods, chocolates and shake is hand. He is a great guy and his food speaks for itself! Don’t forget to visit the chocolatelab inside the hotel for amazing take home treasts! http://www.jhousegreenwich.com/
