Greenwich Schools Release 2021-2022 Standardized Testing Results

The Connecticut State Department of Education released the results of the 2021-2022 Smarter Balanced assessment, which is the accountability assessment in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics for students in Grades 3-8, and Connecticut School SAT results.

GPS administrators will now begin their in-depth review of the standardized assessment data. Administrators will review the current status of student learning as measured by the standardized assessments and instructional practices to identify successes to celebrate and amplify, and areas of focus to address. Greenwich’s Board of Education is scheduled to receive a comprehensive report on the standardized assessment results on Oct. 6 at the board retreat.

"We are excited to begin our analysis as we stay focused on helping every student find their maximum success," GPS Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones said I a mews release. "It is so important to recognize that our teachers, administration, and entire staff show a great deal of dedication and commitment to the education of our community’s children. Our administration will continue to analyze the data in the coming weeks.

“By placing in the 91st percentile in the 2022 ELA SBA results of districts across the State (84th in 2019) and 89th in Math (87th in 2019), it is noteworthy that over the past two years, despite the ongoing pandemic, our students had the opportunity to safely participate in in-person learning throughout.”

The following are the results of GPS for the Smarter Balanced Assessments, Smarter Balanced Growth Rate, Average Percentage of Target Achieved, and Connecticut School Day SAT, with overall state results in parentheses, for three consecutive pre-COVID school years and 2021-2022.

There were special considerations and analyses due to the COVID pandemic for the results from the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years, therefore district-level data are not directly comparable to each other as in prior years.
