The Greenwich girls lacrosse team is one game away from returning to the state finals.
Claire Feeney scored six goals and Shannon Colligan added two goals and six assists as the sixth-seeded Cardinals defeated No. 3 Hall 13-11 in the Class L quarterfinals on Monday.

-- Greenwich's Stephen Pastore carded a 72 Monday at Timberlin Golf Club to earn medalist honors in the CIAC Division II golf championship.
The Cardinals (311) finished second in the team competition, four strokes behind Ridgefield (307), and one ahead of Staples and Farmington, who tied for third.
-- Greenwich's Tyler Kratky, the No. 2 seed, has reached the semifinals of the CIAC Class LL state tournament and will face No. 6 seed Tommy Inouye of Danbury on Tuesday at the Yale courts.
Greenwich's Blake Niehaus lost in the third round while Tatsuya Tasaki advanced to the quarterfinals before falling.
Greenwich leads the team competition with 22 points, two ahead of Staples.
In doubles, the Cardinals pair of CJ Purse-Michael Grund, the No. 4 seeds, have advanced to the semifinal and will meet Westhill's top seeded tandem of John Petrini and Brendan Pomerance.
In the girls state Open draw, Greenwich's Jennifer Deluca, the No. 3 seed, has reached the semifinals, where she will play No.7 seed Hannah Dahlem of Avon.
-- Former Australian Open champion Johan Kriek will join Jacob Kreimer of Fairfield County Tennis for an afternoon of world class instruction and drills on Saturday at the Longshore Tennis Courts in Westport.
They will be exploring "The Modern Game: The Next Level & Beyond" and “Winning Doubles Strategy & Tactics.” The event is being presented by The New Haven Open, Westport Parks & Recreation & The Player’s Edge Tennis Association.
Adults and juniors will be able to take part in the first instructional clinic session on “The Modern Game: The Next Level & Beyond” from 12:30pm-2:30pm for $75 per person or the second clinic on "Winning Doubles Strategy & Tactics" between 2:30PM-4:30PM for $75 per person.
There will be a pro-am doubles tournament following the clinics in which participants will be able to team with pros and compete in top level round robin doubles match play against Kriek and his partner as well as other area teams for prizes.
Kriek is a member of an elite group of tennis professionals who have multiple Grand Slam singles titles, having won the Australian Open in 1981 and 1982.
His all-court game and foot speed carried him to 14 singles and eight doubles titles in his 12-year career on the ATP Tour.
Kriek was ranked as high as seventh in the world at the peak of his career, recording wins over many top players, including Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg, Guillermo Vilas, Nannick Noah, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, Stan Smith, Arthur Ashe, John McEnroe, Pat Cash, Mats Wilander and Stephan Edberg.
Kreimer, a native of Brazil, brings over 40 years of tennis experience to Fairfield County Tennis. He was a ranked top junior in Brazil and the No. 1 player at Concordia College which he attended on a full tennis scholarship.
Kreimer was the head tennis pro at the Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. for eight years, responsible for comprehensive tennis programming for juniors from age four to adult. He is USPTA certified and has been a coach, club administrator and ESPN International announcer who has had the opportunity to work with such tennis greats as Martina Navratilova, Ivan Lendl and Gustavo Kuerten.
Kreimer played a lead part in winning the USTA national men’s 5.0 league championships in 1996 and has reached the finals of the national men’s 35 doubles grasscourts championships.
