An 0-4 start a year after reaching the league championship game may keep the Greenwich baseball team out of the FCIAC playoffs.
The Cardinals have recovered, but they go into the regular week of the season needing help to get in. With four games left, Greenwich is in ninth place with an 8-6 league record, one game out of a playoff spot.

Of course, there are four teams -- New Canaan (10-5), Fairfield Warde (10-5), Norwalk (9-5) and Wilton (9-6) with five or six losses in the crowded standing, so the Cardinals certainly still have a chance.
Greenwich owns a tiebreaker edge over New Canaan but lost to Fairfield Warde and Norwalk. The Cardinals still have to play Wilton.

The closing schedule is not easy as Greenwich concludes the regular season next Friday against Staples. The Cardinals face Bridgeport Central on Friday and Trinity Catholic on Monday.
