Despite thrashing Fairfield Ludlowe 55-9, the Greenwich football team (4-1) slipped four spots to 12th in the latest CIAC Class LL state rankings at the midpoint of the season. The Cardinals slipped because they beat a winless opponent as the Falcons are 0-5.
There are only four unbeaten teams left in Class LL, including No. 3 Staples (4-0), but there are 11 other squads with only one loss, including No. 6 Ridgefield (4-1) and No. 10 Norwalk (4-1).
