The Greenwich High football team will be able to play its five games at home this season after all.
The Cardinals will open at home against Ridgefield on Friday as scheduled after receiving clearance that the field is no longer a health risk.

The school closed Cardinal Stadium in late July after soil samples revealed elevated levels of PCBs after ground was broken on a $29 million auditorium. However, the field and bleachers have been cleared for use.

Registration is ongoing for the The Volvo of Stamford Tour de Greenwich XXVII, a 20-mile bicycle race set for Sept. 18 at 7:30 a.m. The race starts at Greenwich High School.
The pre-entry registration fee is $35 with a cost of $45 on the morning of the race. Each participant will receive a long sleeve race shirt and a water bottle.
The day includes a post-race brunch,which will take place during the awards ceremony. A winner's jersey will be presented to the champion in each age group.
Entry forms may be obtained on the www.threadsandtreads.com website and at the Threads and Treads sporting goods store at 17 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich.
Max Lippolis of Pound Ridge, N.Y., won last year's race in 49:04 to edge Cos Cob's Alex Weil by three seconds.
Kristin Budden of Rye Brook, N.Y., was the woman's champion at 56:53, finishing a mere one second ahead of Darien's Rose Shabet.
The Department of Parks and Recreation announces that youth basketball clinics will begin at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center on Thursdays starting Nov. 3 for six weeks.
The program for children in kindergarten will run from 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm. Children in first and second grades will meet from 4:30 pm to 5:15 pm, and fourth and fifth graders meet from 5:15 to 6 pm. The fourth and fifth grade program is great training opportunity for players that are playing on travel, and house basketball teams. The cost for the program is $100.00
Coach John Czarnecki will teach this junior basketball class. Czarnecki is certified by the State of Connecticut, and has coached for over 25 years. He has coached for the Greenwich Basketball Association, Greenwich Flame travel team, Greenwich Boys and Girls Club and the freshman, JV, and Varsity Basketball teams at GHS.
The course will be held in the Bendheim Western Civic Center Gym. Registration will begin by mail only from Oct. 3 - 7. In person registration at the Civic Center begins on Monday, Oct. 10.

Also, Department of Parks and Recreation's Tennis for Tots will begin its fall indoor session at the Civic Center on Nov. 7. Sessions are scheduled on Mondays for sixth weeks.
The program for children 3- and 4-years-old will run from 2:45 pm to 3:15 pm, or 3:15 to 3:45 pm. The 5-, 6-, and 7-year old program will be from 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm, or 4:30 pm to 5:15 pm, or 5:15 pm to 6 pm.
The cost is $85.00 for the 3- and 4-year olds and $95.00 for the 5–7 year-old program.
Pat Cianciulli, who has been the director of the town’s tennis program for three years, will teach the program. He also teaches at various private clubs in Greenwich and has worked at the U.S. Open. He has taken the latest workshops with the USPTR.
The course will be held in the Bendheim Civic Center gym. Tennis rackets will be provided. Registration is by mail only from Oct. 3–7 with walk-in registration beginning on Oct. 10.
