The United States finished off a 17 1/2 to 8 1/2 victory over Great Britain and Ireland on Sunday in the 25th PGA Cup in San Martin, Calif.

The Americans won six singles matches and halved the other two to keep intact its streak of never having been idefeated on home soil in a competition that began in 1973. The U.S. increased its overall lead in the series to 17-5-3.

Greenwich's Danny Balin won his final match in the competition, defeating Christopher Gill, Devon, England, 1-up.

Balin, an assistant golf pro at Burning Tree Country Club, recorded a hole-in-one in the PGA Cup in the tournament on Saturday.

Playing in a four-ball match,  Balin used a 7-iron to ace the par-3, 183-yard hole. It was the second hole-in-one in Balin's career and believed to be only the second one in the 25-year history of the PGA Cup.

Balin is a 29-year old Maryland native who played college golf at Penn State.
