After struggling down the stretch, the boys basketball team is the 23rd seed in the Class LL state tournament and will play at No. 10 seed Manchester (15-5) in the first round on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
If the Cardinals (11-9) pull off the upset, they would face either No. 7 seed Crosby or No. 26 Trumbull in the second round on Thursday.

After starting 7-1, Greemwich lost its final three regular-season games, including a 62-53 overtime setback at Danbury that kept the Cardinals out of the FCIAC playoffs.
Still, Greenwich is assured of a winning season after going just 4-16 last year and the seven-game improvement is one of the best turnarounds in the state.

Greenwich made the state two years ago, also finishing 11-9 and losing to East Catholic 60-46 in the first round.
