Greenwich Teen Accused of Fatal Hit-and-Run to be Tried as Adult

The ruling means a potentially longer prison sentence if the teen is convicted.

GREENWICH,CT—The teen accused of a fatal hit-and-run that left a Greenwich man dead will be tried as an adult.

Andrew Schmidt, 18, was 17-years-old at the time of the incident, according to the Greenwich Time. Judge Gary White decided that the evading responsibility charge isn't something that can be tried in juvenile court.

Schmidt could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted. He would've faced a lesser potential sentence if found guilty in juvenile court.
