Police Arrest Greenwich Teen in Fatal Hit-and-Run

A 17-year-old Greenwich teen was charged for the April hit-and-run accident that left a Greenwich man dead, police said.

GREENWICH, CT- A Round Hill Road teen was arrested and charged after a fatal hit-and-run accident in April.

Andrew Schmidt, 17, was arrested on May 26. Police worked with the State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford-Norwalk to obtain a warrant, said Lt. Kraig Gray, police spokesman. He will be charged as an adult.

The April 17 accident on East Putnam Avenue near Hillside Road left Edward Setterberg of Cos Cob dead. He leaves behind his wife and children.

Schimidt is charged with evading responsibility following involvement in an accident that results in a fatality. The charge is a felony with a potential penalty of 10 years in prison. Schmidt was released after posting a $100,000 bond.

"The Greenwich Police Department would like to acknowledge the family and friends of Mr. Setterberg for their support and patience as we systematically conducted a very comprehensive investigation that brought us to this point," Gray said.

Police executed 39 separate search warrants and analyzed a significant amount of physical evidence, Gray said.
