Greenwich Veterans Day Event Roundup
There are several events planned around Greenwich to honor those who have served the country.
GREENWICH, CT — Veterans Day is on Friday, Nov. 11, and there are several events planned around Greenwich to honor those who have served the country.
The annual walk down Greenwich Avenue will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a ceremony at 11 a.m., in front of the veterans memorial near the Havemeyer building.
Riverside School will also hold its 22nd annual Veterans Day ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. All the elementary classes at the school are invited to participate along with a handful of volunteers, school staff, Riverside School parents and local veterans.

Principal Christopher Weiss will lead the event with traditional elements of the ceremony including the raising of the flag, the laying of the wreath and participation in the Pledge ofAllegiance.
At the close of the ceremony, Riverside School alumni Veterans who died in foreignwars will be recognized. This year, Greenwich Police Chief Jim Heavey and Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones, among others, will be present at the ceremony.

Other ceremonies on Friday include the annual walk and wreath presentation by the Byram Veterans Club. Gathering for the walk will begin at 6:30 p.m., and step-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The walk will proceed to the Byram Fire Hose where a wreath presentation and ceremony will take place. Refreshments will be served at the club house afterwards.
The YMCA of Greenwich will hold a Veterans pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is open to all.
