Greenwich's Atkinson Beaten Out For Hobey Baker Award
Atkinson finished second in the nation in goals with 31 for Boston College

Miami of Ohio forward Andy Miele on Friday was named the winner of the Hobey Baker Award, which is presented annually to the top player in college hockey.
The nation's leading scorer, Miele edged out Boston College's Cam Atkinson, a Greenwich native, and North Dakota's Matt Frattin, who were the other two finalists.
Miele scored 71 points - 24 goals and 47 assists - for the Red Hawks, registering 11 more points than any other player in the country. His total was the highest in Division I in eight years.

Miele, who led Miami to the top seed in the NCAA tournament, recently signed with the Phoenix Coyotes. The Red Hawks were upset in the Northeast Regionals by New Hampshire.
Atkinson, who signed a two-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets, was second in the nation in goals with 31 and added 21 assists for 52 points in 39 games for the Eagles.

Atkinson scored 61 goals over the past two seasons for Boston College, which won the national championship last year. He had two goals in the Eagles' 5-3 victory over Merrimack in this season's Hockey East tournament title game.
In three seasons at BC, Atkinson finished with 68 goals and 46 assists for 124 points. He was taken by the Blue Jackets in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL draft.
The 21-year-old is currently playing in the AHL with the Springfield Falcons and scored the winning goal in his first game as a professional, a 3-2 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers last Friday.
