Flash Flood Watch Issued For Southern Connecticut: Here's When

The National Weather Service is raising concerns about more flooding in Southern Connecticut. Here's their latest weather advisory.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch and Hazardous Weather Outlook for Southern Connecticut for the potential of more flooding today, Friday morning and afternoon. The situation is alarming as Tuesday's rainstorm dropped several inches of rain on the region and caused havoc on roadways resulting in numerous motorists needing to be rescued from their cars.

Several roads across the state collapsed under the weight of the water. And now the National Weather Service says "For tonight, there will be a chance of flooding. For Friday morning into early Friday afternoon, there will be a chance of flooding."

In the Flash Flood Watch statement for Southern Connecticut via the National Weather Service, "...rain could become heavy at times from late tonight into Friday morning. Rainfall of at least 3/4 to 1 inch is expected, with locally higher amounts up to 2 inches.

"There is still some uncertainty as to where the heaviest rainfall bands will set up, so not all places within the watch area may experience flooding. However, it will not take much additional rainfall to cause flooding in locations hard hit on Tuesday, and the heavier rainfall rates and total amounts could cause urban and highway flooding during the Friday morning rush."

For the weekend, drier conditions will return as high pressure builds across the area. For the weekend, the highs forecast are in the upper 60s to lower 70s on Saturday, and mid 60s to near 70 on Sunday.
