Here's The Latest On Central Middle School Construction

The new school continues to progress, according to the latest construction update from Greenwich Public Schools.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools this week released its April update for the new Central Middle School, and the building continues to progress.

The new 125,000-square-foot building is being constructed just north of the current school.

The existing school will continue to function until the new structure is complete and receives a final certificate of occupancy.

If all goes according to plan, the new $112 million CMS could open before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Here's work that was completed in March, according to GPS:

  • Continued interior finishes, flooring, and millwork and work at the second‐floor classroom pods
  • Completed painting and ceiling installation on the first‐floor level
  • Delivered and placed kitchen equipment
  • Removed scaffolding at the auditorium
  • Began installation of theatrical equipment on the stage
  • Continued site utilities work
  • Installed light pole bases
  • Substantially completed masonry for the exterior façade
  • Continued installation of FCP at the exterior façade

A look ahead at work planned for April:

    • Continue millwork installations at the second-floor level
    • Install flooring at the first-floor level
    • Continue installation of kitchen equipment and finishes
    • Continue installation of the auditorium fit‐out and exterior façade FCP
    • Install curb and hardscape throughout
