Historic Racing Yacht Ran Up on Rocks in Greenwich

The yacht won the America's Cup in 1980.

GREENWICH, CT—Famous racing Yacht Freedom US30 ran up on rocks over the weekend in Byram.

Freedom US30 won the America's Cup in 1980 under the command of Dennis Conner, according to the Greenwich Time.

The tide took it off the rocks with minimal damage after about eight hours.

The yacht is now owned by 12m Yacht Development Foundation, which obtains and restores historic 12-meter yachts.
