International Family Night At International School At Dundee

The second annual event at the Riverside-based school is scheduled for May 3.

From International School of Dundee: The International School at Dundee (ISD) Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will host its 2nd Annual International Family Night on Friday May 3rd, from 6 to 8 p.m.

After a hugely successful debut last year, ISD is pleased to welcome back this family-friendly night that celebrates the school’s international community. Organized by the PTA and parent volunteers, the event will feature 16 exhibits devoted to different countries and regions of the world. These beautiful and colorful showcases will include artifacts, clothing, photographs, games, music, and more. The countries and areas represented include Argentina, Brazil, China and Taiwan, Egypt and Palestine, Finland, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Japan, Morocco, Syria, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea and the United Kingdom. Families will receive a passport and collect stickers as they travel the “world,” making this event both informative and fun for all.

“The ISD community has strong connections to so many countries and cultures,” says Monika Shubert, International Family Night co-chair. “Our student body represents over forty different nations and International Family Night is an amazing opportunity for our students to learn about the world without even leaving our campus. They can be world travelers by walking the hallways of our school and exploring activities like writing Chinese characters, listening to Japanese taiko drums and sampling delicious Brazilian brigadeiro.”

Following the exhibits there will be an international food fest held in the ISD café and outside, in the main circle, with musical and dance performances. All of the food will be specially prepared for the evening by ISD family volunteers and reflect the culinary richness and diversity of the school’s community. To commemorate the event, the PTA will publish a special ISD cookbook filled with these personal recipes. Tickets for International Night are $5 per person, $20 per family (for up to six people). This event is for ISD families and not open to the public.
