John 'Jack' Loring Threshie, 86, Former Textile Executive and Resident of North Branford and Old Greenwich -- Cloned

John “Jack” Loring Threshie, 86 of North Branford and Old Greenwich passed away on September 23, 2016 at CT Hospice. He died smiling alongside his bride.

He was born December 15, 1929 in New Bedford, MA and lived in South Dartmouth/Padanaram, MA. Jack played 4 sports and was class Vice President at New Hampton School in 1947 and then attended the University of Virginia and served in the National Guard. He married Elizabeth Archer "Barcher" (Gee) of Fall River, MA in 1951 and began his textile career at Wamsutta Mills in New Bedford.

Burlington Industries hired him in 1955 to restructure the development of several manufacturing plants in various cities throughout the south including Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina. He was promoted to Executive VP of Burlington Industries and moved his family in 1965 from High Point, NC to Old Greenwich, CT where he commuted to New York City to head up Burlington's corporate office. In 1967 he was hired away by Berkshire Hathaway and moved his family to Rochester, MA. before moving back to Old Greenwich in 1969. Jack founded and co-owned a startup woven piece goods facility, Tasco, Inc., in Greenwood, SC and then finished his career at Marion Mills in NYC. Jack & Barcher retired to Ponte Vedra, FL from 1989-2003 before moving back to Connecticut and ultimately shared his last years at Evergreen Woods with Barcher. Jack was an exceptional athlete and loved competing in golf & tennis at Innis Arden Golf Club in Old Greenwich and the Ponte Vedra Golf and Tennis Club in Ponte Vedra, FL. Jack had a strong, honest work ethic and was popular and adored by his friends and loved by his family.

Survivors include his wife Barcher, in Conn. Hospice North Branford, CT., his daughters, Caren T. Camp (John) in Alexandria, VA, Betsy Krobot (Dave) in Black Rock, CT, Kate Jasko (Paul) in Madison, CT, his sons, John L. Threshie Jr. in Westport, Richard Threshie in Wilton, CT and Chuck Threshie in Black Rock, CT. Jack & Barcher have seven grandchildren and he was preceded in death by his brother Philip Threshie.

Services will be held at First Congregational Church of Greenwich, 108 Sound Beach Avenue, Old Greenwich, CT at a future date. Services are in the care of Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489 in memory of John L. Threshie.
