Judith Anne Andriulli, 70; Greenwich Resident Who Was 'Endlessly Creative,' Enjoyed Reading and Nature

Judith Anne Andriulli, 70, a beloved wife and mother and 39-year resident of Greenwich, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at Stamford Hospital.

Born Dec. 25, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late William Paul and Viola Weathersbee of Williamsburg, VA.

A graduate of York High School and the College of William & Mary, Judith was endlessly creative and brought passion and curiosity to both her personal and professional pursuits. In college, she was the secretary of The William and Mary Review, and was fond of reading and writing poetry in the gardens of colonial Williamsburg near campus. Her creativity and generous wit also served her well during her many years working as an advertising copywriter at agencies in Manhattan including Benton & Bowles, where she worked on major brands such as Fiat and Proctor & Gamble.

She met her husband Anthony Andriulli in Manhattan in 1966. They married two years later, and were together for 48 happy years. She embraced the role of mother to her daughter Katie, and instilled in her the same desire for knowledge and love of the arts. She especially enjoyed volunteering as a class mother and helping to run the ever-popular annual Book Fair at Greenwich Country Day School.

A voracious reader, Judith could often be found with a book or her favorite Sunday New York Times in hand. She was also a great lover of animals and nature, and supported a number of animal charities throughout her lifetime. Two of her favorite spots were Greenwich Point, where she enjoyed walking and viewing the wildlife, and the Phoenix Botanical Garden in Arizona, where she knew the names and characteristics of every plant in sight. As one of her dearest friends remarked, “she was interested and interesting and knew a lot of good stuff.”

Her family and friends will remember her most for her grace, kindness and understated sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband Anthony Andriulli of Greenwich; daughter Katie Andriulli of New York, NY; sister Kathy Moak and brother-in-law Carl Moak of Carbondale, CO, sister Lisa Crosby and brother-in-law Robert Crosby of Canberra, Australia, and sister Margaret McLemore and brother-in-law Robert McLemore of Maidens, VA, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2:30 p.m. at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich. The interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Greenwich Library or the World Wildlife Fund.
