Lifeguards No Longer on Duty at Greenwich Beaches

The town announced that a lifeguard shortage is the reason bathers will be swimming at their own risk.

Due to the lifeguard shortage the Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation announced Thursday afternoon there will no be lifeguards on duty at Greenwich beaches for the remainder of the season.

Only first aid stations will continue to be staffed at Greenwich Point and Island Beach daily.

“ We urge all beachgoers to comply with all posted signs,” the department advised in its announcement.
