Man Accused Of ID Theft, Stealing Credit Cards: Greenwich PD
The Greenwich Police Department has charged a New York man in connection with an identity theft investigation.

GREENWICH, CT — A 63-year-old New York City man was extradited on Sept. 20 from Westchester County Jail back to Greenwich where he faces several charges related to an identity theft investigation.
Police said on Nov. 10, 2020, Charles Vancleave of Manhattan stole a victim's credit cards at 161 W. Putnam Ave., the location of a Stop & Shop. Vancleave then used the cards to purchase $1,900 worth of goods at electronic stores outside of Greenwich, according to an arrest report.
Vancleave was charged with second-degree identity theft; illegal possession of a personal identification information device; receipt of money, goods or services obtained by illegal use of credit card; putting money on a revoked payment card; payment card theft; and fourth-degree larceny, according to an arrest report.

Vancleave was given a court-set bond of $50,000, which he was unable to post, police said. He was placed in a cell block at Greenwich Police Headquarters and given a court date in Stamford of Oct. 4.
