GREENWICH, CT — A Milford man was arrested last week after police said he sent threatening texts and voicemails to members of a Greenwich family.

Manuel Aranda, 40, was detained by the Milford Police Department on May 5, according to his arrest report. He was brought back to Greenwich and charged with second-degree harassment and first-degree threatening, and given a $50,000 bond which he could not post.

Lt. Martin O'Reilly of the Greenwich Police Department said Aranda is a relative of a man who was hired as a contractor to work on a Greenwich family's home. The contractor died, and hadn't performed work for the family in several years, O'Reilly said.

On April 20, a Greenwich resident came to GPD headquarters to report harassing and threatening text messages and voicemails from Aranda, O'Reilly said, noting that Aranda was asking for money.

After being told to stop all communication with the victim, the messages from Aranda continued to other family members and an arrest warrant was developed and signed for, according to an arrest report.
